The Perfect Tear paper towel holder eliminates waste by allowing exactly the desired number of paper towel sheets to be torn off the roll with just one hand. The secret lies in the secure, horizontally wall-mounted base and the ratchet system inside the towel holder. By allowing the roll to make incremental turns in just one direction, the ratchet holds the roll steady during pulling and tearing, thus preventing unraveling. England's Faces (1970-1975) wound up playing stadiums, but they always had a compact, pub-band feel. They were proud boozers, tuning up wasn't a major obsession, and Rod Stewart (in pre-disco prime) always sounded like he'd sung himself hoarse the night before. They kept the mood light, but ensemble work was deceptively tight, thanks to drummer Kenney Jones (later Keith Moon's replacement in the Who) and guitarist Ron Wood (post-Jeff Beck, pre-Stones), who'd switch between raunchy lead and raunchy rhythm roles between beats. Wood's blues-drenched slide work snuffed most of his rock competition, and helped define the band's wiry sound. But Faces offered more than teapot blues. Tuneful bassist Ronnie Lane's sweet voice and countryish melodies--think "Ooh La La," revived as the movie Rushmore's closing theme--both lightened and deepened the texture. Keyboardist Ian McLagan picked and sequenced 67 tracks, programming them out of chronological order, to flow like concert sets. Included are abundant rarities--out-takes, b-sides, rehearsals, BBC-broadcast excerpts--including live takes of songs Faces recorded under Stewart's name, like "Gasoline Alley" and "Maggie May." Like the Langley Schools Music Project reissue, The American Song-Poem Anthology captures a fascinating, if unessential, moment in modern music making. Back in the '60s and '70s, ads in the back of magazines beckoned readers to submit their very own "song-poems," original ditties of often dubious quality. Hopeful songwriters were then given an offer they (thankfully) couldn't refuse: for a few hundred bucks, creative session musicians would do their best to use the public's lyrics and churn out an actual, honest-to-goodness recorded album that they could cherish forever. Some of the finest recorded results--not counting those still awaiting to be discovered in thrift store dime bins--can be found on this often surreal disc. Who can complain about the aptly-titled "Do You Know the Difference Between Big Wood and Brush"? Who can't relate to a song like "I Lost My Girl to An Argentinean Cowboy"? Well, lot's of people. But that's beside the point. It's hard not to love these songs--some patriotic, some romantic, most just plain bizarre--that enterprising young musicians did their best to spice up in any number of different genres (country, funk, disco, and, of course, rock). The songs made by Rodd Keith are particularly genius, but fans of novelty music will be hard-pressed to fault any of these 28 oddball cuts. --Jason Verlinde

In "...Tim Riley's Bar," William Windom stars as a middle-aged man that prefers the peace and comfort of his past as he must wrestle with job and personal changes of the present. This episode was an Emmy-winner for Serling and Windom deserved some recognition, too, for his bravura performance. The drama also stars Diane Baker and John Randolph.

Windom is also the star of "Little Girl Lost", a tale of a scientist/father having difficulty dealing with the death of his small daughter, a situation that has dire consequences for himself as well as the rest of the world.

Jack Cassidy is featured in short segment about a crippled athlete seeking revenge on a perceived affair between his wife and his doctor.

However, it's Laurence Harvey in the truly creepy "The Caterpillar" that is the keeper in the set. Harvey has designs for Joanna Pettit, the very happy married wife of an older man, and decides to eliminate the competition with the aide of a burrowing-in-the-brain insect. Unfortunately, Harvey's plans go awry and the ending is a spine-tingler.
